Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Cozy Quattro 12 kW and 18 kW models?
The 12 kW Quattro is ideal for sauna rooms from 210 to 423 cubic feet. The 18 kW Quattro is designed for larger rooms from 317 to 635 cubic feet and supports a larger stone mass. If your sauna is on the higher end of that range or has more glass and tile, the 18 kW model is usually the better choice.
Does the Cozy Quattro require a chimney?
Yes. A certified wood-burning chimney system is required. Use a flue and chimney kit that is rated for wood-burning sauna stoves and meets local building and fire codes. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
How many stones do I need?
The 12 kW Quattro requires at least 265 lbs of sauna stones and the 18 kW Quattro requires at least 353 lbs. Many installers recommend buying an extra box of stones so you can select shapes that fit well and allow for good airflow between rocks.
What type of stones should I use?
Use natural sauna stones such as olivine or peridotite in the 10 to 15 cm range. Do not use river rocks or decorative stones since they can crack or shatter. Proper sauna stones store heat efficiently and create better steam.
How long does it take to heat the sauna?
Typical heat-up time is about 45 to 75 minutes depending on the size of the room, insulation level, stone loading, and wood quality. The 18 kW model usually heats larger saunas more quickly because of its higher output and larger firebox.
Is the glass viewing window heat-resistant?
Yes. The Quattro uses heat-resistant, tempered glass so you can safely enjoy the view of the fire while maintaining a comfortable sauna environment.
Do I need professional installation?
Professional installation is highly recommended. A qualified installer will configure the chimney, verify clearances to combustibles, and ensure that the stove complies with local building and fire safety requirements for wood-burning appliances.
